TWO INDIAN MEN ARRESTED FOR UNLICENSED INTERNET GAMBLING

Jayesh Ganatra and Dipak Chudasama have recently been arrested by Prevention of crime branch police in the Indian city of Ahmedabad for facilitating unlicenced online sportsbetting. The Jamnagar residents were tracked down, following a tip-off, to a hotel room in which a laptop, six cellular phones and around Rs 40,000 in cash were seized. The pair are accused of taking bets on the India vs England T20 match.

"The men were taking bets from the city and state on India-England match in the ongoing T20 world cup," said a member of India’s prevention of crime branch. "They were using several betting sites to quote rates. We are yet to get the exact amount that they took bets on. The amount recovered from them was also paid by city-based gamblers."
